NACRA 17 Nationals at Oakcliff

Spending my summer at Oakcliff Sailing has been an eye opening experience that I will talk about in depth in another post, but this weekend the entire US NACRA 17 fleet is in town for the National Championships.

Because I have not yet spent time training with my new campaign partner leading up to this NACRA 17 regatta, my good friend Chris Manson came down from Boston to sail with me.  Our expectations are not high as we race against the top multihull teams in North America, but we have our sights on building communication and putting together some solid races through the weekend.  Chris and I are here to have some fun while getting a great workout and building our skills against this tremendous fleet.

Day 1 brought us a building breeze and enabled us to sail a total of five races from 6 knots up to above 15 through the day.  I started my day helping every boat in the fleet build their charters and making sure they all have their pieces and parts as they all are sailing on the Oakcliff NACRA 17 charter fleet (more about my responsibility there in a later post).  This repsonsability delayed my rigging and left me late to the race course and
